Her love may have been contrived, but it was genuine, . . . she considers herself "a cross
between a prostitute and the Dalai Lama," and she indeed delivers a combination of spiritual
companionship and sensual enlightenment.
-Tristan Taormino, Village Voice February 20, 2004
Cinders Gallery is proud to present:
KATHE IZZO & the World Premiere
of THE GARDEN OF LOVE
For the period of July 26th-31st, love artist Kathe Izzo will be in residence at the Cinders
Gallery, literally setting up camp and installing a passionate botanical experience for the
heat of the Brooklyn summer. You are cordially invited to be part of Kathe Izzo's global True
Love Project as she invites you to experience her intimate garden of love, which is suitable
for an audience of one, a couple, or intimate groups . She pledges to freely fall in love with
her audience -- and for that matter, the world -- one day, one lover at a time,
unconditionally and with unmitigated passion.
An even deeper microcosm of her THEATRE OF LOVE, which has traveled to LA, Miami,
Frankfurt, Berlin, Boston, and Manchester, Izzo will be booking private appointments for her
one-woman interactive art piece here in Brooklyn. These appointments can last up to an
hour and can involve anything from eating and shopping to looking at art, lounging or
walking around, depending on the participants’ specific “needs” and "desires."
Make a reservation with Kathe through Cinders (718-388-2311/ [email protected])
or just stop by and visit!
Reception: Friday July 29th 5pm-11pm
5pm-7pm:
BESOMETHING will be in residence creating small sustainable botanical worlds of love to
give away. Please come and bring a container for your world or just come, learn and help!
7pm-11pm:
Opening Party with Soundscapes by Sal Randolph of Opsound and refreshing and romantic
summer accoutrements.
"Kathe makes intensely private work that lets the world walk around in it…it’s oddly heavy
and comic and deliberately perverse…She puts her words and her body on the line more than
any other contemporary artist I know." -Eileen Myles
